About Me

I am a 5th grade teacher at The School at Columbia in New York City. I have the best job in the world, spending my days working with students to investigate math, reading, writing, and social studies. In addition to my work with children, I’m also deeply committed to helping teachers grow and innovate. I do this work by offering workshops, presenting at conferences, and teaching college classes whenever I have the opportunity.

Math is my huge passion and I’m always looking for ways to inspire students and teachers to see the amazing work that can be done in math. Many years ago I began my teaching career teaching in a Spanish/English bilingual classroom, and then collaborating to start a dual language school in Upper Manhattan. I remain deeply committed to helping all children develop fluency in a second and even a third language.

I enjoy visiting schools and meeting teachers throughout the United States and overseas. It’s a great privilege to make connections with other educators and share a bit of my work with others. I can be contacted at juliebroderick92(at)gmail(dot)com or @juliebroderick on Twitter.
